Why “Brick Poetry”?

Just as words are put together in a poem to express an idea, thought or observation, we use our architectural tools (light, materials, rhythm, proportion) to design a building. We want our architecture to appeal to the senses and emotions, to tell a story, to create a framework for beautiful moments and memories. “Brick” is not to be taken literally (we also like to build with wood!). It stands for long-lasting and natural materials that have a beautiful feel and develop a patina.

Our Philosophy

Whether it's a residential building, an office extension, a doctor's office, a horse stable or a tree house - we help you create rooms that exude lightness and fit naturally into the context. We strive for harmony and appropriateness by reducing things to the essentials, without foregoing the small details and positive surprises that make life and architecture interesting. Of course, we don't do this alone, but in a team with our builders, users, specialist planners, authorities, residents... We respond to the wishes, ideas and of course budget and deadline requirements of our customers and do not see these as a restriction, but as a creative challenge .

What else is special about us?

We combine German reliability and quality expectations with warm Scandinavian minimalism and American customer focus. Our international professional and life experience is a source of inspiration for our creative work. We continually expand our technical know-how and knowledge of product developments and the latest construction techniques, especially in the area of sustainability, through further training - across national and language borders. Our small, young office offers a very personal and flexible service. Our goal is to make both the design process and the use of the finished building fun and meaningful. We treat customers, users, colleagues, specialist planners, authorities, craftsmen and everyone else involved in the project with respect, openness and team spirit in order to achieve the best possible project result.

Team

Depending on the requirements of the project, we collaborate with other independent (interior) architects and architectural offices from our network who complement our skills.

Frank Schütz, Business Consultant + Guest Critic

Frank aspires to become a polymath, and perhaps one day even an architect. So far he has “just” been a founder of several companies and non-profit organizations, a part-time philosopher, business coach and data scientist. With this bouquet of skills, he is the ideal sparring partner for all boring and exciting business and IT questions.

But that's not all: Frank is also self-taught in art history, and his fresh perspective from outside the "architect bubble", his experience in the software startup product world in Silicon Valley, his calm and structured manner and his strong empathy make him a valuable team member Design process – whether as a guest critic or in interaction with customers.

To balance out everyday life, Frank does triathlons and learns languages with the help of audio books.

Julia Schütz, Architect + Founder

Julia first studied economics and social sciences at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg, and then architecture at the KIT Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. After receiving her diploma, she moved to Hamburg, where she planned apartment buildings for several years. Her next stop was Sweden - her dream place, the home of “not too much, not too little, but just right”, which corresponds exactly to Julia's philosophy of life. From the land of unlimited cinnamon roll eating and coffee drinking we then went to the land of unlimited possibilities, destination: San Francisco. There she earned the coveted title of “Licensed Architect”, planned office interiors and luxurious second homes, and also immersed herself in the world of teaching at an American university as a research assistant. Today she lives in her adopted home of Munich, which is closer to her hometown in Franconia than she has been for a long time. Your strengths are those of a generalist architect: combining creativity with technical understanding, communicating and coordinating until it fits, and not losing sight of the bigger picture, costs and time despite all the details. When Julia isn't planning architecture, developing her office, or letting her two children teach her how to be in the moment, she relaxes most with the art of baking Swedish cinnamon rolls or riding Icelandic horses.
